Jeff Christensen

Jeff Christensen

Chief Executive Officer

Jeff brings more than 30 years healthcare experience to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Institute of Tucson (RIT). Originally from New York, Jeff relocated with his family to Tucson from Charlotte, North Carolina, where he was chief executive officer at Carolinas Specialty Hospital. Jeff received a master’s degree in business administration from Texas A&M at Corpus Christi. He received a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, in Brooklyn. Jeff sits on the executive board of the Children’s Museum and is active with many community organizations.

Dr. Larsen

Jon M. Larson, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Larson is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, family practice, geriatric medicine, and electrodiagnostics. He is a fellow of the American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine. Dr. Larson received his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Prior to entering private practice in Tucson in 1980 as a rehabilitation specialist, Dr. Larson completed his residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center, and his residency in family practice at the Arizona Health Sciences Center.

Jon M. Larson, M.D. is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.

Marissa Aguirre

Marissa Aguirre

Chief Nursing Officer

Marissa began her nursing career at Northwest Medical Center as a staff nurse. She later advanced to clinical nurse leader and managed the cardiovascular intensive care unit for three years. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) in 2004 from the University of Arizona and is currently enrolled at Grand Canyon University to obtain her MBA and MSN in nursing leadership.  In her new role as chief nursing officer, Marissa can ensure staff provides quality, compassionate care.  

Wayne Blas

Anthony (Wayne) Blas, CHFM, CHSP

Director of Plant Operations

Anthony Wayne Blas actively served in the US Navy for 10 years. Following his honorable discharge in 1993, he began a career in healthcare plant facility operations with Baptist Medical Center. Wayne graduated from the Baptist Healthcare Emerging Leaders Program in 2004, which led him into management of regulatory compliance and facility leadership duties. Wayne is an American Hospital Association Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM) and an International Board for Certification of Safety Managers Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP). He’s also a member of the American Society for Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) and Florida Healthcare Engineers Association (FHEA) and recently joined the Arizona Society of Healthcare Engineers after accepting the position with HealthSouth as director of plant operations.

Michele Butts

Michele Butts

Director of Therapy Operations

Michele joined HealthSouth in 2003 as a staff physical therapist in Evansville, IN. She most recently served as a therapy manager in Indiana before relocating to Tucson in 2014 to become the director of therapy operations at the Rehabilitation Institute of Tucson. She is a graduate of the University of Evansville with her master’s degree in physical therapy. She also is a board certified wound care specialist (CWS) with the American Board of Wound Management. 

Kathleen Coffey

Kathleen Coffey

Director of Case Management

Kathleen joined the HealthSouth team in 2014 offering more than 25 years of management experience in a variety of rehabilitation settings. She extends a specialized expertise in the field of traumatic brain injury. A graduate of Bryn Mawr College with a bachelor's degree in English, she earned her master's degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix. She is a certified case manager and an active member of the Case Management Society of America. Most recently, Kathleen provided behavioral health case management at Landstuhl, a military treatment facility in Germany, for three years, and was the program director at a community-based brain injury program in Milwaukee, Wis.

Controller

Mary joined HealthSouth in 1992 with more than 20 years of financial management experience. She holds an accounting degree from Chaparral College and has stepped-up to serve as HealthSouth’s interim administrator on more than one occasion.

Gretchen Harris

Gretchen Harris

Director of Quality and Risk

Gretchen joined HealthSouth’s senior leadership team in March 2011. Prior to joining the team, she worked in education, overseeing the nursing assistant program for Tucson College and spent 10 years in long term care as a regional director of nursing. Gretchen helps lead our Joint Commission disease specific certification programs in stroke rehabilitation and brain injury rehabilitation. She is a certified rehabilitation registered nurse (CRRN) and precepts/trains new directors of quality and risk management within HealthSouth. She also serves on the board of directors for the Arizona Association of Rehabilitation Nurses and is a youth advisor for her church.

Kimberly Romo

Kimberly Romo

Director of Marketing Operations

Kimberly joined HealthSouth Rehabilitation Institute of Tucson (RIT) in April 2016 as director of marketing operations. She leads business development efforts and manages a team of nurse liaisons who assess patients for possible admission. She also takes care of all hospital marketing, advertising, media requests, outreach and sponsorships. Prior to joining the RIT team, Kimberly worked at Tucson Medical Center in the communications/marketing department. She spent 11 years in the broadcast journalism industry, including KGUN 9 in Tucson, and also worked in the pharmaceutical industry. A ninth generation Tucsonan, Kimberly received a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from the University of San Diego and is active on many boards in Southern Arizona.

Jane Rosenbaum

Jane Rosenbaum, Pharm.D.

Director of Pharmacy

Jane is a graduate of the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy. She has worked in Tucson as a pharmacist since 1992. She has experience in many aspects of pharmacy including acute care, long-term care, oncology and compounding.

Donna Stuve

Donna Stuve

Director of Human Resources

Donna, a Tucson native, has over 12 years of professional human resource management experience. Donna holds a Certificate in Human Resources Management from the University of Phoenix and an Administrative Assistant, A.A.S. degree from Pima Community College. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from Park University. She holds the Senior Professional Human Resource (SPHR) certification since 2009. She enjoys teaching human resource subjects to staff on a one-on-one basis and in the classroom setting.
